PC Expanders has made it easy to set up PCE.net on your computer. This section has everything that you will need to do so.

Set Up Instructions:



PART 1: Setting Up Your PCE.net Connection

A. Put the PC Expanders' Internet Access Dial-Up Connection disk in your floppy drive.

B. Double-click My Computer

C. Double-click 3 1/2 Floppy

D. Double-click on 95/98 ME for Windows 95/98/ME Internet Setup
    Double-click on NT for Windows NT Internet Setup
    Double-click on 2000 & XP for Windows 2000/XP Setup

E. Wait while files copy over

F. Select the area you wish to dial by clicking on the city which is in your local calling range. Click Here for a list of local access numbers. (PC Expanders is not responsible for Long Distance phone charges due to customers calling outside a local area. If you are unsure about the number being a long distance call please contact your phone company.)

G. Type in your username. It will be the name PC Expanders assigned you. Be sure to use all lowercase letters and no spaces.

H. Type in your password, all lowercase letters, no spaces

I. Type in a name you wish to use on your email, this can be anything you choose and may include capital letters and spaces, it will appear in the "From" section on email you send.

J. Type in an organization or business if you wish (this is not required).

K. Click OK to finish the connection.

PART 2: You Are Now Ready to Connect! You may connect ANY of these ways:

1. For Microsoft Internet Explorer:

A. Double Click on the icon labeled "Internet Explorer"
B. Enter your username and your password if needed, as it appears on your "First Time Login To The Internet" Sheet.
C. Click Connect

2. For Netscape Communicator:

A. Double Click on the icon labeled "Netscape Communicator"
B. Enter your username and your password if needed, as it appears on your "First Time Login To The Internet" Sheet.
C. Click Connect

3. Other Ways:

A. Double Click on the PC Expanders - your city icon
B. Double Click on the Outlook Express icon

You will know when you are connected when a little icon appears at the lower right hand corner by the time. If you have Windows 95, it will be a black box with 2 little lights on the front. If you have Windows 98/2000/ME/XP, it will appear to be 2 small green computers hooked up with a link.




To Change Your Password:



Users with Windows 95 & 98 wanting to change their password must login to the Unix Shell Account. -Once you are connected to the internet, do the following:

1) Go to Start
2) Select Run
3) Type in telnet pce.net
4) You will be prompted for your username and password
5) After logging in, you will be prompted to enter your current password and then your new password twice. When you are finished type exit and hit ENTER.

Tips in choosing a new password:

- The best password is a combination of letters, numbers, & special characters
- Use at least 6 characters
- Change your password often
- NEVER send your password through email
